On the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti yesterday, YouTube channel BeingIndian released a candid video of young Sikhs talking about what it means to be a Sikh in India.

Several Sikhs explained the basics of their religion, such as the significance of growing their hair. Others questioned the superficial nature of stereotypes about the community, especially those present in the ubiquitous "Sardar jokes". A couple of Sikh women also spoke about how their wearing a dastar, like Sikh men tying a turban, amounts to gender equality.
