But that's exactly what those cruel dancing overlords did to this year's batch of stars, and it took its toll.
Many of the dancers had trouble keeping in time and the general quality of some of the favorites from Week 1 saw a decline.
Well, unless you're talking about Alexa PenaVega, who emerged as a major competitor this week.
Then there was Chaka Khan, who simple had trouble remembering the steps to her dance. Again.
In the end she was sent packing.
Another dance team will be sent home Tuesday, when the pairs will perform their second number of the week.
