Holiday shopping is about to get into full swing, and so are the festive ads that hope to catch your eye.
One recent ad in the Bloomingdale's catalog, however, could give you pause.

Not only does the caption read, "Spike your best friend's eggnog when they're not looking," the text is positioned between a woman and a man, with him giving her a sidelong look while she's turned away.

Needless to say, the uncomfortable ad drew ire from Twitter users for appearing to encourage date rape.
And an even bigger fail. "Spike your female friend's eggnog"ok @Bloomingdales do you not see the date rape msg here? https://t.co/APvKORGgJ1— Julie Couret (@JCWilloz) November 10, 2015
wtffff @Bloomingdales. "Yes, let's promote date rape in our catalog! Great idea!" https://t.co/7WxZxJHIVO— Robyn Swirling (@RSwirling) November 10, 2015

In turn, the department store took to Twitter to acknowledge the concern over the ad copy.
We heard your feedback about our catalog copy, which was inappropriate and in poor taste. Bloomingdale's sincerely apologizes.— Bloomingdale's (@Bloomingdales) November 10, 2015
"In reflection of recent feedback, the copy we used in our recent catalog was inappropriate and in poor taste. Bloomingdale's sincerely apologizes for this error in judgment," a Bloomingdale's representative told Tech Insider.
It goes without saying: Please don't spike anyone's drink this (or any) holiday season.
