Apple TV's new gaming-friendly bent is best encapsulated in Hipster Whale's newly reworked iOS hit, Crossy Road.

Combining the endless runner hooks of Temple Run with the old school arcade stylings of Frogger, Crossy Road has amassed a considerable following already in the world of mobile devices. The newly Apple TV-ified take expands the whole thing for larger screens while also injecting a couple of new features.

The big one is multiplayer. Friends can sit side-by-side on the couch and either collaborate to cross the game's many roads and river or compete, bashing into each other and forcing an opponent into oncoming traffic. No big deal, only virtual cartoon animals are harmed.

All of that gameplay depends on the Apple TV's new, swipe-friendly remote. Swiping left and right moves your doomed bird to the left and right while clicks hop it forward by one space. It's not clear how this works in multiplayer -- will you need a second remote, or can you use, say, an iPad or iPhone as a controller? -- but the multiplayer action is definitely exclusive to Apple TV.
