Danish News Mixes Up Syria and Video Game

Looking for a way to illustrate the Syrian city Damascus, a Danish TV station tossed up this image. Keen-eyed observers noticed that, while technically was a depiction of Damascus, something was a bit off.

The image the TV station used was not a photograph, but rather a screenshot from the 6-year-old video game Assassin’s Creed. TV2 used the pic in a report on the ongoing violence in Syria. The screenshot from the game is Damascus as an artist imagined it looked 720 years ago.

Last year, the BBC flashed a Halo logo in place of the United Nations’ logo.
