David Bowie and Iman had a storybook romance.

The rocker, who died Sunday at age 69, met the towering supermodel at a party in Los Angeles in 1990 and was immediately interested.

"I was naming children the night we met," he said, according to the 2014 biography Bowie.

However, it took Iman a little more time to warm up to the man to whom she would eventually be married for 23 years.

“For him [it was overwhelming],” Iman told the Independent last year. “I was not ready for a relationship. Definitely, I didn't want to get into a relationship with somebody like him."

Ultimately, the couple fell in love. For Iman, it wasn't about Bowie's flashy personas and rocker status.

“As I always said: I fell in love with David Jones," she said. "I did not fall in love with David Bowie. Bowie is just a persona. He's a singer, an entertainer. David Jones is a man I met.”

The couple later married in 1992 in Lausanne, Switzerland. On August 15, 2000, they welcomed their first child, Alexandria Zahra Jones.

After more than two decades together, Iman confirmed that their relationship was as strong and wonderful as ever.

"My marriage is exactly as fabulous as you all would think," she said in a 2010 interview.
