Though Carnival does not officially begin until Friday, Brazilian canines took to the streets on Sunday to get the party started.

Four-legged revelers and their humans gathered near Copacabana beach to listen to the street band Banda Vira-lata. The party then made its way down the streets while the band played the traditional samba music of Carnival.

Carnival in Rio de Janiero is one of the largest live events in the world, with more than 2 million people gathering in the city streets each day. There are several massive parades through Feb. 10.
