Rafael Correa, the president of Ecuador, is making waves across social media after a photo showed him posing with a young boy wearing an "I'm With Stupid" shirt -- with an arrow pointed in Correa's direction.

The hashtag #IAmWithStupidMashi has inspired thousands of tweets from Correa's detractors, while his supporters are using the more polite #WeAreWithYouMashi.

Niño agente de la CIA intenta destabilizar al gobierno. Sería un buen titular para Andes. #IAmWithStupidMashi— LongoColorDeLaTierra (@Alfresarpo) April 8, 2015

Translation: CIA agent child attempts to destabilize the government.

Eight years later and the only thing they have is a ridiculous t shirt and a boy who didn't understand the legend on it. #WeAreWithYouMashi— Esteban Arévalo (@Esteban_Xavier) April 8, 2015

Corra, who has been Ecuador's president since 2007, has not yet commented on the story from his personal Twitter account.
