When one hapless elephant went looking for water near Chyulu Hills National Park in Kenya recently, it ended up sliding into a muddy pit, where it was trapped for 12 hours.

Thankfully, a bunch of conservationists were on hand with helicopters, diggers and a determination to free it from its murky prison.

Yay for humans for once.
