The social network is encouraging members to vote for which version of the terms of use that they’d like to see: the existing documents, or a new set of proposed ones that “reflect comments from users and experts received during the 30-day comment period.”
So far, the proposed documents are winning the voting by a better than 2 to 1 margin, though only a few thousand users have voted. After voting, you’re asked whether or not you’d like to share your vote with your Facebook friends, via the news feed.
I’m not surprised that the proposed documents are winning – something that sounds like your friends might’ve had some input on seems a lot better than the current company-determined terms of use. But how many people will actually take the time to read the documents before voting? I hate to sound so apathetic, but probably not many.
