Twitter Updates Now Connected to Facebook Status

Facebook adjusted their API last week, which now enables Twitter to directly update online status reporting on Facebook profiles. The application, however, is not automatically updated but is refreshed approximately every 30 minutes. Delayed updates may be bothersome for frequent tweeters but remove some work for users of both Facebook and Twitter.

Facebook's most recent API alteration was not the first response to Twitter's SMS based status platform. In April, Facebook incorporated SMS updates and also injected a status page nearly identical to Twitter. While this move nixed the possibility of a Twitter acquisition by Facebook, a new Twitter app demonstrates the startup's continued growth despite attempts by Facebook to operate in the same space.

Including the new feature is simple, requiring only a small adjustment to the existing Twitter application. Select the option allowing your Facebook status to be updated directly from Twitter and wait for your last tweet to appear.
