Ford Sync Installed in 5 Million Vehicles

Ford's in-vehicle connectivity system Sync has made its way to 5 million vehicles, the company has announced.

“With more than 1 billion smartphones now in service around the world, we expect mobile connectivity will continue to be the foundational element of our strategy going forward,” said Ford CTO Paul Mascarenas.

Ford collaborated with Microsoft in 2005 to create the Sync system, which integrates with the user's phone and allows him to perform various functions, such as make calls or control music, with voice commands.

According to Microsoft, the future of Sync includes such features as cloud connectivity, on-board sensors and natural language processing.
