New Moon Trailer Leaked on Web, Studio Tries to Destroy Every Trace

Do you remember last month, when the Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland Trailer made an early appearance on the web? Hungry fans and moviegoers (including myself) were excited to get our first glimpse into Burton's remake of the classic fairytale. Disney, however, would have none of that and forced YouTube to take the trailer down. We still stand by our statement that the move was a "mindboggling mistake."

Well, history repeats itself. Different movie, different trailer, different studio, same result. Earlier today, the New Moon trailer hit the web. It's the second movie in the popular Twilight series. According to MTV, the French are to blame, so it's language is in French. But still, the same actors and action.

If you go looking for it from the usual sources though, you're not going to find it. Why? Because Summit Entertainment, the independent studio with the rights to the film, forced YouTube to take it down again. We have a non-YouTube copy embedded below anyway, though.

You know what the studios should do with leaked trailers? They should release them in full. Trying to hide them doesn't work. Once it hits the web, it hits the web. You can't hide it. Studios should embrace the activity and the energy of their fanbase instead of frustrating them.

Although I am not a fan, there are millions upon millions of people who love this franchise. Don't stifle their enthusiasm by trying to take away something that you can't take away. Just to prove that point, here's the trailer:
