Let’s take a moment to appreciate the relics of our nation’s military aircraft past.

The 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group boneyard at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona is home to more than 4,400 aircraft and 13 aerospace vehicles from the Air Force, Navy-Marine Corps, Army, Coast Guard and several federal agencies including NASA.

The “boneyard” was established in 1946 as the 4105th Army Air Force Unit used to house planes after World War II.

The desert site provides missile storage and maintenance facility and short and longterm aircraft storage, parts reclamation and disposal.
