The panel on Fashion Police might have fun cracking each other up, but on E! News Tuesday, host Giuliana Rancic was anything but laughing.

After making racially-charged comments about Zendaya Coleman's Academy Awards hair style on Monday's Fashion Police, Rancic took a moment to make an on-air apology to the singer and others who were offended.

"As you know, Fashion Police is a show that pokes fun at celebrities in good spirit, but I do understand that something I said last night did cross the line," Rancic said, sitting without co-host Jason Kennedy by her side. "I just wanted everyone to know that I didn't intend to hurt anybody, but I've learned it is not my intent that matters, it's the result. And the result was that people are offended, including Zendaya and that is not O.K."

On Monday's post-Oscars Fashion Police, Rancic commented on the singer's faux locs, saying "I feel like she smells like patchouli oil...maybe weed."

"I want to say to Zendaya and anyone else out there that I have hurt that I am so, so sincerely sorry," Rancic continued. "This really has been a learning experience for me. I've learned a lot today. And this incident has taught me to be a lot more aware of clichés and stereotypes and how much damage they can do and that I am responsible -- as we all are -- to not perpetuate them further."

Rancic's apology comes hours after fellow Fashion Police host Kelly Osbourne threatened to quit the show.

Im giving everyone involved 24 hours to make it right or the world will hear how I really feel. contactually Im not allowed to speak!— Kelly Osbourne (@KellyOsbourne) February 24, 2015

I DID NOT MAKE THE WEED COMENT. I DO NOT CONDONE RACISM SO AS A RSULT OF THIS IM SEREIOULSY QUESTIONONIG STAYING ON THE SHOW!— Kelly Osbourne (@KellyOsbourne) February 24, 2015

Zendaya has not commented on Rancic's on-air apology but did Tweet a response Monday night after hearing about the initial comments. "To me, locs are a symbol of strength and beauty," Zendaya wrote. "There is already harsh criticism of African-American hair in society without the help of ignorant people who choose to judge others based on the curl of their hair."

A repeat of Fashion Police that aired after E! News on Tuesday did not edit out Rancic's comments.
