Unless you're actively taking steps to avoid Google, you likely have a profile on several of the company's services, such as Gmail, Photos, Drive and Google+.

Now there's another you can add to that list: The company launched a new page called About Me on Tuesday, which lets you manage your various Google profiles from one place and control the personal nformation you're sharing.

If you already have a Google acount, your About Me page will likely list your name, image, gender, birthday, work history and current place of residence, among other details. You can edit and erase most of that information, though VentureBeat notes you cannot delete your name and photo without deleting your Google accounts.

Google also lets you start a "privacy checkup" from the page, which is a wizard that gives you an overview of all your privacy settings on the service.

A considerable amount of this information is only visible to you -- or, depending on your privacy settings, also your Google friends and contacts. If you click on the menu icon in the upper-left corner of the About Me page, you'll see the option of viewing how much of your profile is public -- but that option is not available yet. Instead, Google lets you check your Google+ public profile.

It seems as though Google's intention is making your basic privacy settings easier to find, but the new page might confuse some users, as it joins a small army of similar tools like Google's My Account, where you can fine-tune almost all aspects of your account. If you have a Google+ profile, you'll notice that a lot of the settings available in its About tab overlap with the About Me page. Google's help section on editing your account contains links to all these tools and services.
