Plenty of people are content to spend their lives in Grand Theft Auto V stealing cars, running from cops and letting the game's story pull them along. But it's a rare breed who want to use the game's vast world more like a chest of movable toys to create their own stories.

Many gamers know this art as machinama, positioning characters and in-game cameras to capture footage that looks like something else to create a story. (The most famous example, of course, is Red vs. Blue, the long-running Halo-inspired series by Rooster Teeth.)

Some talented machinima artists have turned their eyes to the gigantic, varied game world of Grand Theft Auto V to re-create some great action movie trailers entirely inside the game. From car chases to explosions, these trailers capture the feeling of the films they strive to mirror, even without the benefit of actual human actors. And thanks to the new first-person mode added in the next-gen version of GTA V, creators will even have more options in the future.
