Fly Art creators, Toni Potenciano and Gisella Velasco, describe their project as "an homage to the finer things in life: art and hip-hop". Born from boredom, frustration and web culture, the project brings classic artwork into the modern age by associating the paintings with song lyrics that fit all too well.
The modern lyrics, which have now moved beyond just hip-hop genres, add a bit of humor to a refined subject matter. We're sure members of the fine art world will disagree, but we think that Mona Lisa and Nicki Minaj make the perfect mashup. She needed some swag, anyway.
