If you've been on Instagram lately and noticed posts from celebrities appearing out of order on your feed, you're not alone.
A bug in the service is causing posts from some celebrities and other high profile accounts to stay "pinned" to the top of some users' feeds.

It's not clear if the bug is related to Instagram's latest update, which introduced looping videos. But the number of users reporting the "pinned posts" has spiked in recent days. The out-of-order posts have appeared from celebrity accounts like Beyoncé and Kim Kardashian, as well as brands like H&M, prompting questions about whether the app may be offering the feature to some accounts as a form of advertising.
An Instagram spokesperson told Mashable the company does not use pinned posts and is not testing the feature.
The Instagram algorithm or are brands and publishers getting paid pinned posts? Look at the H&M post above @moneyries pic.twitter.com/OQRNyQBw0K— Nick Cicero (@nickcicero) February 6, 2015

Why is it that @KimKardashian pics stay pinned to the top of my @instagram timeline? They'll be posted 60 mins ago and still at the top.— IG: styleoverdosed (@StyleOverdosed) February 9, 2015
Anyone else have @Beyonce's @instagram from 45 min ago inexplicably still at the top of your feed? pic.twitter.com/h552baLttC— Jeff Petriello ⊙▂⊙ (@thebeff) February 9, 2015
A person familiar with the matter told Mashable the so-called "pinned" posts are the result of a bug in the app related to accounts that have a very large following, like celebrities and brands, and will likely be fixed in a future update.
