Politicians in Iowa were reminded of the consequences of microwaving macaroni and cheese on Monday.

Shortly after 11 a.m. local time, an emergency smoke alarm in the Iowa State Capitol building sounded, and the source of the smoke was traced back to a microwave oven behind the senate chamber, which was heating up some Easy Mac.

Luckily, no one was injured, and all lawmakers and government officials were able to return to work shortly thereafter. The clear followup question is how many people at the state legislature eat Easy Mac for lunch.

It eerily echoes a 2012 incident when the Iowa State Daily offices in Ames, Iowa, were evacuted after a cup of noodles smoked in the microwave.

Stay away from noodles in your microwaves, Iowans.
