LONDON -- British singer-songwriter Jessie J has taken a stand against online bullies by unfollowing Instagram fan accounts that were posting negative and hateful comments about other fans.

The singer succinctly shut down the online trolls in three Instagram posts, explaining her reasons for unfollowing the fan accounts as well as discussing the wider impact that social media has on bullying.

With over 90,000 likes, her posts have since received hundreds of positive comments.

"I don't usually comment on this topic but I know some of my fans will notice so I want to explain" the first post begins. "I have been seeing some real nasty behavior when I show some of the fans I follow love or repost them. I don't like drama or negativity and despise any type of bullying, and so I have decided to not follow any fans."

In the second post, Jessie speaks about standing up to people who put you down: "We allow ourselves to get used to something wrong in utter fear to let it go [...] This is a bigger conversation on how people treat each other and especially online. It's disgusting and not OK."

In the third, she writes about the impact that social media has had on the world, saying "Anything we can do to action nicer behavior and better understanding instead of being selfish and mean is what we should be doing."

The singer's move to speak out about cyberbullying follows Kylie Jenner's #IAmMoreThan campaign, with which she encouraged young people who have overcome bullying to speak out about their experiences and inspire others to do the same.
