It's 2014, and John Oliver is questioning the existence of the Miss America pageant.

Beyond the obvious concerns, like its premise of judging a woman wearing a bikini and the ridiculous questions participants must answer in 20 seconds, Oliver also questioned the organization's scholarship practices.

The pageant claims to be the largest provider of scholarships for women, with $45 million available for scholarships each year. But Oliver found out that the organization only paid out $482,000 in scholarship money at the national level in 2012, according to public tax information.
