Four seasons into her White House term and Julia Louis-Dreyfus is showing no signs of slowing down: The star of HBO's Veep took home a 2015 Emmy Awards win for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.

"I think it would be appropriate at this moment to quote our political satire, Veep," Louis-Dreyfus quipped during her acceptance speech. "What a great honor it must be for you to honor me tonight."

Then she paused. "Oh no, I'm so sorry," she chuckled. "Donald Trump said that. It's getting trickier and trickier to satirize this stuff."

Veep follows the trials and travails of Selina Meyer (Louis-Dreyfus), an ineffectual Vice President of the United States. Her win here, for the show's fourth season, charts the trajectory of an important turning stone moment in Meyer's life and career as she ascends to the highest office in the country.

Louis-Dreyfus, a veteran of Seinfeld and The New Adventures of Old Christine, hardly needs an introduction for longtime TV viewers. She's one of the most nominated performers in this history of the Emmys, with the 2015 edition of the awards show delivering her nineteenth and twentieth nods, and, with Outstanding Lead Actress, her sixth win.

Some might have seen her as a shoo-in, but Louis-Dreyfus faced stiff competition in the Outstanding Actress/Comedy category. Her win comes against a talented lineup that incudes Edie Falco (Nurse Jackie), Lisa Kudrow (The Comeback), Amy Poehler (Parks and Recreation), Amy Schumer (Inside Amy Schumer) and Lily Tomlin (Grace and Frankie).

Louis-Dreyfus ended her acceptance speech with a shout-out to her fellow nominees. "I love funny women. I love powerful, funny women. I love you gals so much."
