You Can Learn to Speak Dothraki

Someday, high schoolers may have to decide if they should fulfill their language requirement with Spanish or Dothraki.

The words spoken by Khal Drogo and the rest of the Dothraki people on Game of Thrones is a conlang (constructed language), as this TED Ed video explains. Dothraki joins the ranks of other conlangs like Klingon (Star Trek), Na’vi (Avatar) and Elvish (Lord of the Rings).

A conlang is defined by its system of grammar, not its lexicon -- meaning that any aspiring super-nerd can't just boast a complete command of Klingon by learning a bunch of words.

So if you're a geek who really wants to level up and learn Elvish, or to converse with the Dothraki horde, you have to put in the time.
