Santa Clara-based LinknSurf, which launched officially on June 29th, is a Java application that lets you track a range of popular blogging services on your cellphone. To subscribe to blogs on MySpace, Xanga, Blogger/Blogspot, LiveJournal, TextAmerica or Windows Live Spaces, you just enter the account name. You can also subscribe to MySpace comments, Flickr tags or any RSS feed. What's more, you can send messages and exchange subscriptions with other LinknSurf users. During the alpha phase, you can create up to 50 subscriptions and become a member of up to 20 communities.

It's a neat little app, although I've never been crazy about reading feeds on my phone. Nonetheless, I like the brands they're promoting with LinknSurf: services like MySpace, Xanga and LiveJournal are extremely popular with the younger, mobile-savvy demographic. If they're not already, LinknSurf should consider promoting the service on social networks using the standard methods (MySpace codes and buttons, MySpace Marketing etc). But the real money comes if you can strike a deal with one of these networks (case in point: Helio).
