Genius Idea: Online auctions might be synonymous with eBay, but that company is in the midst of a major identity crisis and buyers and sellers are suffering. LootSlinger is aiming to solve many of eBay's problems by offering an easy, safe, and open way to buy and sell items online.
LootSlinger is new, the site launched last week, but it has big ambitions. What is interesting about the site is that it allows -- and encourages -- auctions to be promoted on Twitter, StumbleUpon, Facebook, etc.
Browsing items is easy to do by category or by tag (though the selection is pretty small right now) and you can view the seller's other auctions, past history, and "follow" them on LootSlinger so that you can see what updates they make or reach out to them directly.
