Australia has around 34,218 kilometres (21,262.08 miles) of coastline, so it was only a matter of time until someone took their police chase to the beach.

One Australian man decided to give it a real go on Tuesday. 7News captured video of the unnamed person driving a white four-wheel drive straight into the ocean north of Perth, in an alleged bid to escape the cops. His thought process? Unclear.

The police had been tailing the guy through sand dunes for about two hours, according to The West Australian. It all came to a complete halt, when he took a sharp right turn into the water and had to abandon ship. Two officers waded into the surf to arrest him.

The West Australian police have been contacted for comment.

The vehicle may have been stolen, according to the publication. Suffice it to say, whoever owns this car might just have to let the sea have this one.
