LOS ANGELES -- If you can't beat the leakers, join the leakers.

All of Marvel's upcoming stuff is apparently too hot to keep under wraps these days, so the studio's TV arm is dispatching a "double agent" who will infiltrate the production team on Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. -- from whence he will "leak" top-secret information about upcoming episodes of the show itself.

It all goes down on Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Double Agent, a new web series from ABC Entertainment and Marvel Television that launches on Wednesday, the day after S.H.I.E.L.D.'s midseason return on the network. The five-part Double Agent will be available to view at Marvelsdoubleagent.com, ABC.com and the Watch ABC app.

In the meantime, check out the clip (above), which Mashable is debuting exclusively.

Double Agent follows a newly hired production assistant for S.H.I.E.L.D. (the show, not the fictional quasi-governmental organization) who is working as a double agent on behalf of a shadowy foe.

Known as The Mastermind, this enemy orders the double agent to infiltrate restricted areas of the S.H.I.E.L.D. set, where he captures story elements from future episodes with hidden cameras. Viewers can suggest where they think the double agent should go next.

Really, it's not all that different from the fanboy press.
