Meryl Streep got her first guitar lesson from Neil Young because she's Meryl Streep

If you're Meryl Streep, a regular guitar lesson simply won't do.

For her new role as a failed rock star in Ricki and the Flash, the triple-time Oscar winner had to learn how to play guitar. Naturally, director Jonathan Demme had the perfect teacher in mind: Neil Young.

Demme introduced Streep to the Grammy winner at his film center, and the pair went straight into a 45-minute guitar lesson. He also gave her some special advice about amps, telling her to always "crank it up to 11."
