Mochila isn't announcing a new partner (per say), but the new player has kicked in a lot more functionality. This new player, version 2.0, offers multiple related videos within the same player, making its content availability far broader and more valuable to site publishers, readers, and advertisers alike. This brings in some traditional media consumption features for Mochila, making its new player more akin to a television with channels that offer a variety of content from multiple news sources.

Next Phase: Innovate

It's interesting that Mochila has reached a point with its content provider partners that it can step back and pour some resources into improving some of its existing widgets. What's good about this is that it breeds innovation necessary for Mochila to remain focused in its goals, while improving the quality of its own distribution methods.

McAllister, who is quite familiar with Reuters as a publisher and has cultivated his own relationship with the service for Mochila as a distribution partner, responded as such:

"I don’t know a lot about Reuters’ API initiative but it makes sense to me and is certainly a reflection of a company full of smart people working to innovate. The only thing I know for sure is that no one knows what the future of distributed content looks like. So innovation and experimentation are an imperative to companies trying to transition from the way syndication’s been done for more than a century and what comes next."
