MySpace has settled with TheGlobe.com for its lawsuit against the online travel site for creating fake accounts on the social network, promoting its GloPhone. The financial details of the settlement were not disclosed.

TheGlobe was discovered to have created over 95 fake accounts on MySpace for the purpose of sending messages in bulk to random users. This is in violation of the CAN-SPAM act as well as the California Business and Professions Code, not to mention the MySpace terms and conditions, which state that each unsolicited email or other communication sent through MySpace will incur a $50 penalty. This left TheGlobe with $5.5 million in penalty fines, but its agreement with MySpace stipulates that TheGlobe has agreed to refrain from using MySpace for any commercial purpose.

Considering the high price to be paid for spamming MySpace users, you'd think we'd see a little less of it. Here's a more comprehensive list of who is being sued by MySpace.
