NBA Player Apologizes For Boneheaded Holocaust Selfie

Something that's a really dumb idea to do if you're a public figure or just a human being in general: Go to the Holocaust Memorial in Berlin, take a selfie, then post said selfie to the Internet with a caption including the phrase "lol #holocaust."

Yet that's exactly what NBA player Danny Green of the San Antonio Spurs just did.

The Spurs are in Berlin for a pre-season exhibition game, which is what brought Green to the Holocaust Memorial in the first place. Here's his selfie and accompanying caption, via Mike Hunt.

Yeah ... no.

Green quickly realized the error of his ways and the photo now has an updated caption on his Facebook page.

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = "//connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js#xfbml=1"; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, 'script', 'facebook-jssdk'));

Post by Danny Green.

He also apologized on Twitter.

Yes, mistakes do happen— Danny Green (@DGreen_14) October 8, 2014

I want to sincerely apologize for the insensitivity of my post!— Danny Green (@DGreen_14) October 8, 2014

I have great respect n understanding for this country's history n wanted to continue chronicling my experience in Berlin— Danny Green (@DGreen_14) October 8, 2014

But showed poor judgement...sorry once again— Danny Green (@DGreen_14) October 8, 2014

Green also got in some hot social media water in June, when he posted a photo to Instagram trolling LeBron James after the Heat star had to leave Game 1 of the NBA Finals with severe cramps.

This, however, is obviously a bigger and much more thoughtless screw up. But it's extremely, extremely unlikely Green meant any ill by it -- so let's all save our OUTRAGE for something that actually matters.
