The guys of One Direction are offering up an impressive collection of Throwback Thursday-esque photos (or what the hip social media users these days call "#TBT" pics) in their latest music video, for "Story of My Life," which premiered Sunday.
The video features the group memebers in a dark room, developing photos from their childhoods. As the prints hang to dry, they transform into present day versions of the shots -- reminiscent of the nostalgia approach used on several viral Tumblr blogs.
In one picture, a toddler Zayn Malik poses with his little sister in his childhood bedroom. The photo comes to life, and the siblings recreate the shot, his now grown-up sister even donning pigtails for the scene.
An especially moving photo transformation shows a younger Louis Tomlinson flanked by his grandparents and great-grandparents. In the present shot, his great-grandparents fade away, leaving just three people in the frame, instead of five.
The photos provide an intimate look into the One Direction past of each member.
Other photos show Niall Horan and his brother rocking out on pint-sized musical instruments, Harry Styles eating cereal in a bathrobe and Liam Payne posing with his family in formal wear.
Sunday marked the official launch of the video, but a leaked version surfaced Friday.
VEVO meant to publish an 18-second sneak peek teasing the video, but it accidentally published the full-length version. The leaked video was almost immediately taken down, celebrity news site Cambio reports
“Story of My Life" is the band's second single from their third studio album, Midnight Memories, following the first single, "Best Song Ever."
