Opera Mini's admittance to the App Store was a huge surprise, but judging from the popularity of the app, it was the right move -- at least from a user perspective.
For a time, Opera Mini was the most popular free app in all regional App Stores, as you can see in the screenshot below. The situation has changed slightly by now, but Opera Mini is still leading everywhere except Australia, where it holds second place.
While the iPhone's Safari app is a great mobile browser, the popularity of the Opera Mini app proves that people are still interested in alternatives. Check out yesterday's screenshot below.
