Google Acquires PeakStream?

PeakStream, the software developer, has been reportedly acquired by Google for an undisclosed sum.

The software made by PeakStream improves the performance of single-threaded applications on multi-core chips. This is most helpful to coders, as it streamlines processes without compromising performance gains delivered from general purpose GPUs and the likes of Nvidia and AMD/ATI. Google has reportedly stated that PeakStream's products will benefit its users, but have not indicated how that will be achieved. The surprising absence of PeakStream's website and the fact that its phone lines went dead yesterday peaked people's interest and curiosity, and most speculate that it is due to the fact that it's being assimilated into the Google family. Taking this into consideration, t may turn out that Google will be using PeakStream for its own in-house purposes.

Other Google acquisitions include Feedburner, DoubleClick, GreenBorder, TonicSystems, Panoramio, and possibly SalesForce, none of which seemingly disappeared from existence.
