Photo Challenge: Show Us Your Best Shots Taken After Dark

Darkness brings an exciting challenge for photographers. Once the sun sets, a window of opportunity opens. For this week's Mashable Photo Challenge Guest Series, we want to see your most stunning photos taken after dark.

These might be long exposure shots, a night-time city skyline, photos of the stars or light paintings. Anything taken between dusk and dawn is fair game, so even though shooting in low light can be tough, challenge yourself to stick it out after the sun sets.

Follow the directions below to submit your photo, and our guest curator will select some of the best shots to feature on Mashable.

How to Enter the Challenge

Tweet your photo of "be yourself" to @mashablehq with the hashtag #MashPics OR

Instagram your photo with the hashtag #MashPics OR

Upload your photo in the photo widget below OR

This week's guest curator is Matt Lutton, an American photojournalist who has been based in Belgrade, Serbia, since 2009. He focuses mainly on long-term documentary projects. His six-year project about Serbian identity called "Only Unity," was awarded the Burn Magazine Emerging Photographer Fund last year. In the photo above, the famous black birds of Kosovo fly over Mitrovica on the night of the first anniversary of Kosovo's independence from Serbia.

Submit your photos by Monday, July 8, at noon ET. Matt will choose his favorite submissions to feature on Mashable, as well as on our Facebook album, Pinterest board and Google+ page. We can't wait to see your photos!
