Photobucket announced its Media Plug-in 2.0, an improved version of its existing image and video hosting plug-in tool. This release is set to launch in the next week.

This is a way for developers to leverage the photo-sharing company's existing tools while extending more search options to the end users, without having to leave the partner sites. The benefits for developers mean they can grant users access to Photobucket's vast library of images and videos. This means users can stay on the developers' sites without having to click through to Photobucket to obtain full search results. Search integration on this level is a natural step for Photobucket, because of the widget offering which made its service so popular, along with the intense amount of data is now houses. In this way, Photobucket differentiates itself from Pixsy, though Pixsy has a larger library of existing media partners for its image search.
