The iPads kiosks are called ASSETS (automatic self-service electronic terminals) and are primarily located in the state's urban areas.

The terminals allow drivers to fill out forms electronically, before paying with a debit or credit card. After completing the transaction, users should receive the new license within a few minutes, while the kiosks do also allow for drivers to change their designated address or pay reinstatement fees.

"Reducing the wait time at driver service centers is one of our top priorities," said Commissioner Bill Gibbons. "These self-service iPad stations will cut down on the number of customers waiting for service from a driver license examiner and will help reduce the overall wait time for all customers."
