Science and experience tell us that it’s not unwrapping that gadget you’ve been coveting for months or enjoying that second helping of pudding that makes the holidays so joyful: It’s giving back to the ones we love.
With this in mind, we partnered with RetailMeNot to ask you to share your warm and fuzzy stories of giving back over the holidays via the hashtag #SaveItForward.
How are you giving back this holiday? Share with #SaveItForward and #promo to win a charity donation in your name! https://t.co/j4tTwxR8nP— Mashable (@mashable) December 31, 2015
As the 140 character tales of charity rolled in, we found our intentions for the New Year started to shift. Rather than resolving to lose that five pounds or swap binge watching for books, we started to look outward, choosing to make 2016 the year we make an effort to give back a little more and take a little less.
Amongst the tweets that inspired our new resolutions were these winning three, each of which RetailMeNot will be rewarding with a $100 donation out to the tweeter’s selected project through DonorsChoose.
One selfless tweeter opted out of gifts to give back
We volunteer instead of giving gifts. :) For my part, I take understaffed #PAWS shifts when the shelters need it most! #SaveitForward #promo— Nicole Glueckert (@nmglueckert) December 22, 2015
