SceneCaster Launches 3D Worlds for Commerce, Search, and Community

SceneCaster, which launches today at DEMOfall, is a new 3D web community. In addition to its own site, the service aims to add a 3D experience to ecommerce outfits like eBay and Amazon, and to social networks and photo sharing services like Facebook and Flickr. The company does this all from within the web browser with no new software to download.

To allow users to create their own 3D scenes within the community, SceneCaster offers its own content library that users can access with a drag-and-drop interface. They have also integrated with Google’s 3D Warehouse to provide additional content that users and partners can add to their 3D worlds.

The company is announcing several partners that will be participating in its launch, including iStockphoto, Oddcast, and SmartFurniture.
