The opening credits for this year's Simpsons "Treehouse of Horror" special are really something else -- probably because they were designed by John Kricfalusi, best known for creating Nickelodeon's cult cartoon The Ren & Stimpy Show. (Kricfalusi previously designed another couch gag for a Simpsons episode that aired in 2011, which you can view below.)

The short shows Bart, Lisa and Maggie -- Kricfalusi-fied, of course -- walking through a spooky graveyard on Halloween night, where they're eventually accosted by a monstrous version of a character who'll be familiar to Simpsons fanatics: Frank Grimes, the title character of the classic Season 8 episode "Homer's Enemy."
Oh, and just in case you're captivated by the creepy song scoring the credit sequence -- which, as per the episode's closing credits, is called "The Soul Candy Song" and was also written by Kricfalusi -- here are the lyrics:
