Siri Is Useless When it Comes to Picking Powerball Numbers

Like almost everyone else I know here in the U.S., I'm a bit obsessed with winning the record-breaking $550 million Powerball Lottery jackpot. There are many ways to increase your odds of winning Powerball (buying more tickets, joining a pool so you can buy even more tickets as a group), but I thought I'd use technology to increase my chances. Apple's Siri voice assistant to the rescue!

The drawing, which is played in 42 States, Washington D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands, is Nov. 28 at 10:59 p.m. EST.

My plan was simple. Ask Siri on an iPhone 5 if it could help me pick six random numbers between one and 56. I know that I have a devil of a time picking random numbers. In fact, I've noticed that my choices are almost never random. I could use the Lotto system's "Quick Pick," which ostensibly gives me computerized random digits, but be honest. When you look at those numbers, do they look random to you? Of course they don't.

Siri, though, was somewhat less helpful at picking random (and I had hoped winning) numbers for the Powerball lottery than I anticipated. Watch the video above and you'll see what I mean.
