This extreme slow-motion of a spinning waterlogged ball looks like something from outer space

You might not think a red foam ball dipped in blue food colouring could look like something from deep space, but you'd be wrong.

The Slow Mo Guys -- i.e. the same YouTube duo who brought us such slow-motion epics as jelly getting hit with a tennis racket and man exploding out of a giant water balloon -- are back, and this time they've managed to create something that looks like a beautifully simplified version of a Hollywood special effect.

By dipping the foam ball in liquid, spinning it in front of a 1,600 frames per second camera and slowing the footage right down, the water spiralling out from the ball gives the effect of a planet rotating in the middle of a galaxy.

Oh, and if mesmerising space effects aren't really your bag, there's also an amusing bit at the end of the video where Gavin throws the ball at Dan's face.
