Levin, now the director of a health startup called OrganizedWisdom, will chair the "Startup Health" effort. Case chairs a similar but broader national campaign called Startup America that will partner with Startup Health. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will also support the initiative and is hosting the organization's launch announcement Thursday.
A spokesperson for the initiative says that the first goal of the program is to start the conversation around innovation in healthcare. A series of startup roundtables will begin July 13 to bring enrepreneurs, investors and organizations together around this topic.
In the future, the organization may also partner with investors or build a physical campus. OrganizedWisdom, whose CEO Steven Krein will direct the effort, plans on opening its API to health innovators in and outside of the program.
