It's a slick, fast-loading app that lets you view your friend's updates in the style of many Twitter apps. Shared images and websites can be opened within the app itself, and you can "Like", "Dislike" and save content from your friends' streams. If you're already a Strands user, it's no doubt an improvement on the existing mobile site, but for those already entrenched in the world of Twitter and Friendfeed, the advantages are less clear. The counterargument: FriendFeed does not yet have a full iPhone app, only an iPhone interface.

And that's my concern with Strands overall: it's a FriendFeed competitor with a smart recommendation engine and a slicker interface. In short: like FriendFeed but better. That's worryingly reminiscent of Pownce versus Twitter, and we know how that turned out.
