A teen girl turned a cruel cyber bullying situation into a teachable moment with a Facebook post shaming her bullies.

On Monday, Canadian high school student Lynelle Cantwell was shocked to learn that she'd been included on an anonymous Ask.FM straw poll called "Ugliest girls in Year 12 at hth [Holy Trinity High]." But instead of staying silent, she shared her anger on Facebook.

In the days since, the post has garnered more than 3,000 shares and comments of support.

Cantwell told CBC News why she chose to speak up.

"It outraged me ... all of these girls are hurt because of this one person who has no heart or sympathy for anything," she said. "I wanted to be the bigger person, and instead of fighting fire with fire, I decided to fight it a different way and make something that was really negative into something really positive."
