'Texts From Hillary' Creators Bow Out After Whirlwind Week

What does it take for a Tumblr blog's creators to retire after a successful run?

For the creators of viral sensation Texts From Hillary, the meme reached fruition with a confirmed text from the Secretary herself. Creators Stacy Lambe and Adam Smith explained in a farewell post entitled "TTYL":

"As far as memes go -- it has gone as far as it can go. Is it really possible to top a submission from the Secretary herself? No. But then when you get to text with her in real life -- it’s just over. At least for us. But we have no doubt it will live on with all of you on the Internet."

The blog will remain on Tumblr, but it will no longer accept external submissions.

Lambe and Smith met with Clinton Tuesday afternoon, after she exchanged texts with the pair on Monday.

The final post from the creators included some impressive stats about the 32 posts that rapidly drove their Internet fame: 83,000 Facebook shares, 45,000 Tumblr followers and 8,400 Twitter followers.

The original photos of Clinton texting on a military C-17 aircraft were taken by Reuters photographer Kevin Lamarque and Time's Diana Walker.
