Stephen Colbert's Comedy Central sign-off has been officially set.
The host announced Thursday night that the final episode of The Colbert Report will air Dec. 18, 2014, bringing to an end his almost decade-long run on the network.

As Mashable first reported back in April, Colbert will inherit David Letterman's seat at The Late Show sometime in 2015.
No word on whether his new duties will interfere with his job as intergalactic chancellor.
When Colbert visited Letterman back in April, shortly after the switch was made official, the Comedy Central vet shared his plan for success.
"I'm going to do whatever you have done," he told Letterman.
The Colbert Report debuted October 2005 and has been nominated for seven Emmy Awards and won two.
While the show's bow will truly mark the end of an era on the network, Comedy Central announced back in May that Daily Show standout Larry Wilmore will get his own show that will air in Colbert's 11:30 p.m. timeslot.
No official start date has been set for The Minority Report with Larry Wilmore, but it is expected to debut in January 2015.
