The Flash has been one of the year's most consistently satisfying shows on TV.

That's a huge accomplishment because, as we know, TV shows tend to ebb and flow throughout their seasons, whether they are 13 episodes long or 20 plus. It's tough to deliver every week.

So going into its final episode of the season, The Flash had some pretty hefty expectations to meet. Thankfully, it delivered in every way.

The finale had the team at S.T.A.R. Labs working with their boss-turned-nemesis Dr. Wells -- a.k.a The Reverse Flash -- in an effort to find a way to save Barry Allen's mother from her terrible fate. The problem? Doing so would eff with the timeline of the world and had huge risks.

Everyone was seemingly on board Barry's quest to relive his life with his family intact. Changing the past would not only mean he would have the chance to grow up with a mother, but his father would also never be wrongly imprisoned for her murder. On the other hand, Barry wondered, was a chance at an ideal life worth enough to give up the one he'd gained?

This dilemma led to many emotional moments, all of which (and more) are chronicled below in our list of best moments from this season finale, which is -- thus far -- one of the best we've seen this year.

And as the CW noted after the finale, "this is only the beginning."
