Turkish protesters battle police after officers raid media company

Turkish police clashed with protesters in Istanbul on Wednesday as officers carried out a court order to raid the offices of Koza-Ipek Holding, an opposition media firm.

The firm has ties to a movement led by Fethullah Gülen, a United States-based moderate Islamic cleric and rival of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

The Turkish government conducted a similar raid against Gülen-linked media outlets in December. This seizure comes just a few days before the nation's general election.
